Robert "Willie" Stidham

Robert “Willie” Stidham, age 91 of LaFollette, departed this life on Sunday, October 11, 2020. Willie was born on October 1, 1929 in Perry County, Kentucky to the late Dudley and Delia (Cowell) Stidham. He was of the Pentecostal Faith and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Willie was the Chief of Police for the Austin, Indiana Police Department, and also worked in the years after for the Lake City Police Department and City of Caryville Police Department. He enjoyed looking at scenery and nature, playing the guitar, and singing. Willie also pastored Evening Light Fellowship Church in Tazwell.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Gregory Scott Stidham; brothers, Paul, Eli, R.C. and Isaac Stidham; sisters, Molly Farler and Dolly Johnson.

Willie is survived by loving wife, Mary Lou (Robbins) Stidham of LaFollette; son, Robert Lee Stidham and wife, Vivian of Scottsburg, Indiana; daughters, Judy Ann (Stidham) Wright and husband, Larry of Nashville, Karen Sue (Stidham) McVey of Nashville, and Brenda Lou (Stidham) Boshears of Knoxville; sister, Christine Riley of Austin, Indiana; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 more great grandchild on the way, and 2 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. His funeral service will follow at 12:00 Noon with his brother in law Dr. Harold Robbins officiating.  Willie’s interment will follow the funeral service at Baker’s Forge Cemetery in LaFollette.

The family ask that everyone that attends the services for Willie to please wear a mask for the safety of the family and others.
